ACLU: American Civil Liberties Union

Donors Choose
Donors Choose is set up so that a teacher can request funding for a special project or resources they would not be able to receive through public funding resources.

Native American Rights Fund
“Since 1970, the Native American Rights Fund (NARF) has provided legal assistance to Indian tribes, organizations, and individuals nationwide who might otherwise have gone without adequate representation. NARF has successfully asserted and defended the most important rights of Indians and tribes in hundreds of major cases, and has achieved significant results in such critical areas as tribal sovereignty, treaty rights, natural resource protection, and Indian education. NARF is a non-profit 501c(3) organization that focuses on applying existing laws and treaties to guarantee that national and state governments live up to their legal obligations.”

Black Girls Smile Inc. (BGS) has been recognized as one of the leading organizations focusing on black female mental wellness.
Black Girls Smile Inc. was founded with a mission to provide young black women with education, resources, and support to lead mentally healthy lives. BGS' mission is grounded in research, focus group findings, and personal experiences highlighting the under-served and underrepresented mental health needs of young black women.
BGS envisions a society that through the normalization and dialogue surrounding mental wellness, all individuals, including young African American females are provided education, support, and resources necessary to lead mentally healthy lives.

Puppies Behind Bars
“Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) trains prison inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and first responders, as well as explosive-detection canines for law enforcement. Puppies enter prison at the age of 8 weeks and live with their inmate puppy-raisers for approximately 24 months. As the puppies mature into well-loved, well-behaved dogs, their raisers learn what it means to contribute to society rather than take from it.”

“The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.”
CAWC: Connections for Abused Women and their Children
"Connections for Abused Women and their Children (CAWC) is committed to ending domestic violence. Using a self-help, empowerment approach, we provide a shelter for adults and children, counseling, advocacy, and a 24-hour hotline for people affected by domestic violence. We work for social change through education, service collaboration, and institutional advocacy."

"Sandy Hook Promise is a national nonprofit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut, our intent is to honor all victims of gun violence by turning our tragedy into a moment of transformation. By empowering youth to “know the signs” and uniting all people who value the protection of children, we can take meaningful actions in schools, homes, and communities to prevent gun violence and stop the tragic loss of life."

The Elmhurst Pride Collective was formed in 2019 by a group of residents, business owners, and community leaders. Our mission is to foster and promote a safe and inclusive environment for all, including LGBTQ+ families, friends, and allies, and people of all races, ethnicities, and religions, by creating connections, sharing resources, and celebrating our diverse community.

In order to address both the physical and emotional components of distress, the Cancer Wellness Center provides evidence-based programs and services designed to educate participants, develop their coping strategies, and strengthen their support network.

Erika's Lighthouse: A Beacon of Hope for Adolescent Depression
Erika’s Lighthouse: A Beacon of Hope for Adolescent Depression was founded in 2004 by Virginia and Thomas Neuckranz after their daughter Erika lost her life to depression. In order to avoid another loss in the community, they founded Erika’s Lighthouse with the goal of creating educational materials to Get Depression Out of the Dark.
With help from the community, and from donors nationwide, we’ve grown and expanded our mission across the country. We know that working together, we can save lives.
Des Moines Refugee Support
Des Moines Refugee Support identifies and bridges gaps for refugee families as they establish their new lives in Iowa. We focus on immediate and basic needs, early education, activities, and empowering teenagers.

- inspire change by using art to promote empathy and reduce the stigma of mental illness and developmental disabilities. We seek to improve the self-image of artists by emphasizing the social and economic value of their work. This will cultivate new audiences in the art market by increasing awareness of, and generating demand for artwork created by peoples with disabilities.”
